2009 JPL Outstanding Postdoctoral Research Awards

Winners of the annual Postdoctoral Research Day gave lectures on their research and were presented with plaques to commemorate the event. This year's winners are pictured at left with Chief Scientist Dan McCleese, Chief Technologist Paul Dimotakis, and Science Division Manager Hal Yorke.

Ceremonies held in October honored four postdoctoral scholars for their outstanding research efforts at JPL.

The researchers won a competition at the JPL's Postdoctoral Research Day. The day showcased the outstanding work of 59 postdoctoral scholars in the fields of Earth science, astrophysics and space science, planetary science and life detection, and advanced technology.

The winners delivered lectures on their work at the October 26th awards ceremony and were presented with commemorative plaques by JPL Chief Scientist Dan McCleese and Chief Technologist Paul Dimotakis.

The four winners were:

• Jennifer Benson: Mars’ South Polar Hood as Observed by the Mars Climate Sounder

• Philipp Schneider: Rapid Warming of California/Nevada Lakes Observed From Space

• Dan Coe: Cosmological Constraints from Gravitational Lens Time Delays

• Bertrand Thomas: Submillimeter Wave Silicon Micro-Machined Radiometer-On-a-Chip Using MMIC Planar Schottky Diodes
