  • Hydrothermal exploration and astrobiology
  • Isotopes as tracers of metals and the carbon cycle
  • Trace metal and organic carbon cycling in hydrothermal systems and the deep biosphere, and their potential role in deep-ocean biogeochemistry
  • Microbial role in the speciation of metals and mineral-microbe interactions
  • Development and use of in-situ chemical sensors and analyzers for long term monitoring as well as use in redox sensitive environments
