Ceremonies held in July honored four postdoctoral scholars for their outstanding research efforts at JPL.

The researchers won a competition at the annual Postdoctoral Research Day. The day showcased the outstanding work of postdoctoral scholars in the fields of Earth science, astrophysics and space science, planetary science and life detection, and technology, instrumentation and engineering.

The winners delivered lectures on their work at the August 8 awards ceremony and were presented with commemorative plaques by JPL Chief Scientist, Dan McCleese. The four winners were:

• Ali Behrangi for his work on What does CloudSat Reveal About Ocean Rainfall Measurements?
• Morgan Cable for her work on Non-Aqueous Microchip Capillary Electrophoresis (μNACE) Analysis of Primary Amines: Applications for in Situ Analysis on Titan
• Thomas Flury for his work on Is the Amount of Water Constant in the Tropical Tropopause Layer?
• Alina Kiessling for her work on SUNGLASS: A New Weak-Lensing Simulation Pipeline
• Jose Siles for his work on Compact Power-Combined Multiplied Sources to Enable Terahertz Multi-Pixel Heterodyne Spectroscopy
