Ceremonies held in September honored five postdoctoral scholars for their outstanding research efforts at JPL.

The researchers won a competition at the annual Postdoctoral Research Day. The day showcased the outstanding work of postdoctoral scholars in the fields of Earth science, astrophysics and space science, planetary science and life detection, and technology, instrumentation and engineering.

The winners delivered lectures on their work at the September 4 awards ceremony and were presented with commemorative plaques by JPL Chief Scientist, Dan McCleese.

The five winners were:

• Ingunn Wehus for her work on Planck Component Separation With Commander
• Jae-Hong Moon for his work on Multi-Decadal Sea-Level Shift In The Pacific From 1958 to 2008
• Panagiotis Vergados for his work on Inside Tropical Cyclones With GPS: A New Perspective
• Heidar Thrastarson for his work on General Circulation and Variability of Close-In Exoplanet Atmospheres
• Carl Borgentun for his work on High-Power Semiconductor Lasers For In-Situ Sensing Of Atmospheric Gases
