2014 JPL Outstanding Postdoctoral Research Awards

Ceremonies held in September honored five postdoctoral scholars for their outstanding research efforts at JPL.

The researchers won a competition at the annual Postdoctoral Research Day. The day showcased the outstanding work of postdoctoral scholars in the fields of Earth science, astrophysics and space science, planetary science and life detection, and technology, instrumentation and engineering.

The winners delivered lectures on their work at the September 3rd awards ceremony and were presented with commemorative plaques by JPL Chief Scientist, Dan McCleese.

The five winners were:

* Francis-Yan Cyr-Racine for his work on Looking at Dark Matter through Strong Gravitational Lenses

* Fernando Santo for his work on The spectrum of natural disturbances in Amazon forests

* Clare Wong for her work on Mapping CH4:CO2 ratios in Los Angeles with Simulated Satellite Remote Sensing from Mount Wilson, California

* Paul Ries for his work on A young region on Enceladus revealed by 2 cm radiometry?

* Kurt Star for his work on Advanced Skutterudites for Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generators
