Dr. Lucile Jones of the USGS will moderate a free public panel on an overview of the results obtained by analyzing data from the recent earthquakes in Haiti (January 12, Mw 7.0) and Chile (February 27, Mw 8.8).

The speakers will discuss what has been learned about these earthquakes from seismology, observations made from satellite systems and field observations. They will also discuss how space techniques could in the future improve earthquake monitoring and help mitigate their effects.
