Samad Firdosy

Samad has over 15 years of experience in manufacturing and materials development at JPL for a variety of applications including thermoelectric materials & devices, fuels cells and metal additive manufacturing. His current focus is in blown powder directed energy deposition processing of functionally graded joints, metal matrix composites and functional alloys (i.e. soft magnetic materials, bulk metallic glass).

  • Materials Engineer at the Jet Propulsion lab 2003 – present. Some projects include:
    • Directed energy deposition based additive manufacturing process development lead, 2016 - present
    • Task Manager for the NASA Advanced Thermoelectric Couple project, 2013-2016
    • Thermoelectric device and manufacturing process development for waste heat recover – DARPA funded
    • Ceramic proppant material technology development and mechanical characterization – Oil & Gas industry funded
    • PEM hydrogen / oxygen regenerative fuel cell MEA development and performance characterization- NASA
  • Lecturer in Chemical and Materials Engineering at the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, 2007-2016
