The large mirror silver coating process developed by Surface Optics Corporation has been used for the NASA Kepler mission and the Moon Mineralogy Mapper instrument which will fly on India’s satellite Chandrayaan-1. Under a NASA SBIR contract managed at JPL, Surface Optics adapted Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory’s mirror coating recipe to the company’s large aperture coating facility. The product is highly uniform optical quality durable silver films on large area curved surfaces.
